Yin Yoga For Happy Hips

Who doesn’t love happy hips? This session will focus solely on the hips and lower back, and will leave you feeling lighter and more at ease with movement. Globally, we are moving less as we stay at home through these times, thus not engaging the muscles we need to stay healthy. We are also very guilty (myself included!) of sitting and lounging more than ever. Now more than ever is the time we need to dedicate the time and care our hips deserve.

Props needed:
Bolster, two blocks, cushions, towel

Shake and Dance Meditation

Duration: 45mins
Level: All-levels
Harness the powerful techniques of breathing, active meditation and movement to dissolve the tensions of the day and activate the restorative potential of the body’s lymphatic system. Experience a Shake and Dance Meditation through a three-step process. Begin with an energetic shaking of the body, before transitioning to gentler, freer movement. All of this directs the body and mind towards one final destination: pure stillness and observation. Shaking is a powerful way to counteract mental inertia: it helps us reverse the heavy process of negative thinking, and lets us clear our headspace so we can think more clearly. through the chakra system.

Yin Yoga For Back Health

Duration: 60mins
Level: All-levels

This practice will be a juicy spine opener, where we will move through all six motions of the spine (flexion, extension, lateral flexions, and twists). We work so hard on improving the stability and strength of our spine through our core exercises, it’s also important to make sure we spend time on our mobility too! Don’t forget, we become stiffer as we age, so including practices that relax and open the spine are so important to maintain back health.

If you are suffering from any medical conditions related to the spine (S.I joint issues, bulging disks etc), it’s best to have as many props for support as you can. You may even want a chair on standby in case you are dealing with a serious case (vertebrae fusions).

Chakra Sounds Meditation

Duration: 45mins
Level: All-levels

Harness the powerful techniques of humming and visualisation. We will use the seven chakra theory as a means for visualising certain areas along the spine. We will then send vibration (through the technique of humming) to these points of focus – from the base of the spine, up to the crown of the head. There are many benefits of the technique of humming; including the calming of the mind, and soothing of the sympathetic system. This meditation will leave you feeling more attuned and connected to the triad of breath – mind – body.

We will do two rounds of clearing through the chakra system

About Stephanie Bovis

Stephanie started her yoga journey in 2013, and after exploring various styles of yoga, she identified deeply with the meditative aspects of yin yoga, and began to sharpen her focus and training accordingly. She has since developed an effective and unique delivery of yoga and mindfulness practice that isn’t weighted down with dogma. 

Outside of running her own yoga and meditation offerings, Stephanie currently serves as program director for several leading fitness and yoga studios, and as the Wellness Consultant for one of the world’s most exclusive luxury travel destinations.  She is also a regular feature/contributor to several fitness media outlets around the world.

We have given much consideration with regards to the safe phasing in of Singapore towards a “safe nation”. Hence, Yogafest W.E 2020 that was postponed to 1 & 2 August 2020 will not be taking place.

However, as part of our core advocacy of positively impacting communities and in conjunction with Get Active Singapore!, we are excited to announce that for this year, we will be bringing Yogafest to you virtually in the safety and comfort of your homes.

Yogafest Virtual 2020 is a 14-day yoga festival with more than 120 classes from world iconic and expert yoga teachers, offering weekday programmes suited for your work from home schedules, and day long weekend programmes. Classes are suited for all-levels. From complete beginners, to veteran yogis, we invite you to immerse in this 14-day yoga wellness journey.

Our AcroVillage segment shall be brought forward to our next physical Yogafest, due to the contact nature of AcroYoga.

Current Yogafest W.E. 2020 ticket holders will be provided free access to Yogafest Virtual 2020 – a redemption code for free sign up to Yogafest Virtual 2020 will be emailed to all ticket holders.
